This coffee is produced by small holder growers in Inza municipality, part of the Tierradentro region located on the western side of Cauca, situated around 1700masl. The average size of the farm is 0.5 to 1.5 hectares. I am thrilled to have landed on this coffee to bring in as a core espresso option. This was the first espresso focused Colombia that I brought in, after working with Cofinet for a while showcasing some other coffees.
We’ve selected this washed caturra, castillo lot because it immediately jumped off the cupping table. It just feels like an all rounder. It’s sweet and has a light acidity, with body and bite to boot. As espresso, green apple and caramel shine through. Then with milk you get caramel, molasses and nutmeg. It’s also prettttttttty freaking tasty as a morning filter brew toooooooo.
